Come and meet the staff and clients of Hirundo Day Center in Vallila!
Hirundo is a day center intended for the mobile population of the EU. In Hirundo, one can get coffee, take a shower and do laundry, as well as use the internet and cook in safety. The center's staff offers support in managing day-to-day affairs as well as guidance and advice on social and health services. At the same address, there is also emergency accommodation for the mobile population and paperless people. It is intended for people who have no other place to stay. The clients of Päiväkeskus Hirundo are mainly Bulgarian and Romanian Roma who have come to Finland to find a living. The weak position of the Roma is one of the biggest human rights problems in Europe.
We have been welcomed to Hirundo to meet and interview both staff and clients. After the visit on Wednesday, we will make a short summary of our visit on Thursday.
